Hi Laurel,I found your post on the "We are grafted in" site today and really appreciated it. We are not a waiting family. We don't have a child waiting for us this year, but (Lord willing) maybe next year. I am happy to start following your blog. We are interested in exploring more about Ethiopia in particular, so I look forward to exploring your blog more (when I have more time). I've also done lots and lots of foster care research. But, as you mentioned in something I read...we are either interested in foster/adopt here in the states or traveling internationally to grow our family, so I LOVE that you've experienced both. Thanks in advance for being a place of knowledge for me. :) Have a blessed holiday.
Thank you for your post on the "Grafted In' site. I am an "expectant" mom in Fresno, CA. and actually found your post through a friend of mine that is also "expecting" their second from China but live in Texas. I love how through technology we can all hear each other's story. Although I already have three biological kids, I have found the waiting for this fourth (through Fresno County Fost-Adopt) has been the hardest. We started the process in August of last year and thought last Christmas as we were finishing up classes and filling out our final paperwork that we would have our son by next Christmas for sure. Now, with Christmas only 5 days away I find it very disheartening that our son is still somewhere "waiting" for us as well. Tears flow so easily, often in the most inopportune of places or situations. Although you do not know my name or my situation, I do believe God uses us as his body of Christ through those prayers that you were mentioning in your post. I know that there are others in my friends and family that are holding me up and giving me extra grace and patience as I wait through the holiday season, listening to all kinds of songs about a baby boy. I hope you don't mind if I check in on your blog every once in a while. God bless and Merry Christmas!
