Yesterday we took the boys berry picking. We did this last year at a u-pick farm about half an hour from where we live. I would love to make this our little tradition for spring/summer.
E really enjoyed it this year. He was really excited about finding the ripe berries that were just the right color. J-Man had fun, but was more interested in finding the rooster that kept crowing and playing in the little sandbox.
We picked raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and apricots. You can eat as much as you want while you pick and it was fun watching E just gobble up those berries as he meandered the rows of vines. When we were all done, we enjoyed a little ice cream with fresh berries on top and brought home our bounty, which I plan to use for a mixed berry cobbler today.
Right now my boys are enjoying a morning movie complete with blankets, stuffed animals, popcorn, and capri-suns. Hey, it's summer, right? What better time to throw routine and rules to the curb? At least every once in a while! Happy Summer!
